1) Birthdays – September 9th…Joshua Garrett, Mariah Detwiler.

2) Be sure to treat our neighbors and their property with respect. Be good citizens while out in the community and represent Jefferson well.

3) 6th grade interested in track, be sure to check your email today. Track will begin Sept. 13th and Sept. 14th. Girls will meet Monday and Wednesdays and boys will meet Tuesday and Thursdays from 2:35-4:00. Please meet on the upper field. If you have questions, please reach out to Ms. Settanni or Mrs. Frederick!

4) Sports Today – Girls Volleyball…Jefferson vs Western Dubuque. 7th grade at Western Dubuque and 8th grade at Jefferson; both games begin at 4 p.m.

Emergency Broadband Benefit program

The Emergency Broadband Benefit program is an opportunity to help our families obtain affordable (or free) Internet service for their household.  Below is an overview of the Emergency Broadband Benefit program and the attached PDF is a copy of the same information. Please feel free to share this information with your families who may not know of this opportunity or who may be asking about obtaining Internet access for their child(ren) at your school.

What Is the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program?
The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program is a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households. If your household is eligible, you can receive:

  • Up to a $50/month discount on your broadband service and associated equipment rentals
  • A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)

Do I Qualify? You can qualify for the Emergency Broadband Benefit by participating in certain government programs or by meeting income criteria.

  • Receives SNAP, Medicaid, or other government benefits, or
  • Meets certain income guidelines, or
  • Goes to a school where they receive free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast.

When you apply for the Emergency Broadband Benefit using USAC’s online application, we will attempt to confirm your information automatically. If we cannot automatically approve your application, we will ask you to provide information or documentation to validate one or more of the categories below. We will also follow up to request additional documentation if the information you provide in a mailed application does not result in approval.

How Do I Apply?
There are three (3) ways to apply; online, by mail, or through participating broadband provider.

  1. To apply online, visit https://getemergencybroadband.org/how-to-apply/ and click Apply Now
    If you apply online, you may receive an immediate approval.
  2. To apply by mail, submit applications and proof documents by mail to the address below. To avoid delays, you may wish to send key proof documents with your initial application. b  Always print and include a cover sheet if you sent documents by mail so that we can match your documents to your application (this cover sheet will be released later this month.)

3. Ask your provider if they participate in the EBB Program or use the City of Dubuque’s online tool (https://ebb.cityofdubuque.org/) to find a participating company near you. Participating companies can help you apply through the National Verifier Lifeline Application or through their company’s application process.

How Do I Obtain Help About the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program?

The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program Support Center serves consumers and those supporting consumers 7 days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET.

1) If you have not had your school picture taken, Siebe Studio will be here today, September 3rd. Please get your picture taken. Only for students who did not get their picture taken during the open house.

2) Starting September 13, we will be having LEAP. LEAP is an after-school program for kids that runs right after school. Stop by the main office if you would like a LEAP sign-up form.

Friday, September 3, 2021 – Day B

1) Pictures today in the auditorium. Pictures are only for those who have not had their pictures taken during the open house. If you already have your picture taken, and you want a retake, that will take place on September 21. You will need to bring in your original pictures to have your picture retaken.

3) Today is our kickoff for our fundraiser. During Success Time today, you teacher will hand out an envelope with three cards. We ask that each student sell 3 cards, but it is optional to participate. Once you sell the cards, turn in the money at the main office and you can pick up more cards if you would like. If you sell three cards, you’ll get a special treat at lunch and then

6) Sports Today – Cross Country Meet…Washington will host a cross country meet at DCSD Soccer Complex beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday, September 7, 2021 – Day A

1) Fundraiser…We ask that each student sell 3 cards, but participation is optional to participate. All the money raised goes back to our students. If you sold three cards, you’ll get a special treat at lunch today and then another special treat for 10 tickets sold. The top two Success Time classrooms AND the top 20 sellers will get to go on the boat cruise. They’ll have lunch for us with all the pop you can drink! This is our only fundraiser for the year so please do what you can to help support Jefferson!

1) Birthdays – September 8th…Dorothy Carter, Lilian Pergande, Timothy Parker

2) Congratulations to Micah Fern on his 5th place finish out of 84 runners at the middle school cross country meet yesterday!

3) Fundraiser…We are off to a great start! If you haven’t already done so, consider selling 3 or more cards, to support Jefferson. In the past, fundraiser money has been used for:

  • · $6,000.00 to help replace old/outdated band and orchestra instruments
  • · “Comfort boxes” for the classroom
  • · Student Calculators
  • · New flags for the Color Guard
  • · Various PBIS events
  • · 8th Grade Celebration

If you sell three cards, you’ll get a special treat at lunch today and then another special treat for 10 tickets sold. 2) This week is the last week to join choir, so tell your success teacher if you’re interested in joining.

4) Starting September 13, we will be having LEAP. LEAP is an after-school program for kids that runs from right after school until 4:00 for programs and 5:30 for homework help.

5) Sports Today – Cross Country…Cross Country Meet at Wahlert High School beginning at 4:15 p.m.
