Tuesday, October 9, 2018 — Day B

1) Birthdays Today – October 9th…No birthdays today.

2) The book fair will be held in the LRC Tuesday 10/16 through Thursday 10/18. We’ll be open during home base, weekly scheduled LRC visits, and during conferences. You can purchase books and bookmarks and enter a contest to win free books. A portion of every dollar spent at the book fair will be earned to buy new books for the library.

3) Don’t forget to remind your parents that Parent/Teacher Conferences are Wednesday and Thursday, October 17th and 18th. Please register online.

4) Sports Today – Girls Red Volleyball…Jefferson Red vs. Roosevelt Silver. 7th grade at Roosevelt and 8th grade at Jefferson; both games begin at 4 p.m.

5) Sports Today – 7th Grade Football…Jefferson vs. Drexler Red at Farley at 4:15 p.m.

6) Leap – Tuesday, Oct 9th…Harry Potter with Carnegie-Stout (20 students max) – Wrestling with Greg Gottschalk – Tennis with Chris Burns. Wednesday, Oct 10th…Rock Band with Josh Engler – Wrestling with Greg Gottschalk. Thursday, Oct 11th…Wrestling with Greg Gottschalk – FIELD TRIP to Dubuque Senior Tennis Courts for Tennis with Chris Burns – last day for this activity.

Thursday, October 4, 2018 — Day A

  • Sports Today – Girls Gold Volleyball…Jefferson Gold vs. Roosevelt Silver. 7th grade at Jefferson and 8th grade at Roosevelt; both games begin at 4 p.m.
  • Sports Today – 8th Grade Football…Jefferson vs.. Roosevelt at Roosevelt beginning at 4:15 p.m.
  • Hempstead and Senior High School football teams are inviting all DCSD 8th grade football players and coaches to be their guests at the intra-city game on Friday, October 5th. Middle School football players and coaches will be admitted free of charge.  Players need to check in with the ticket taker at the East Ticket Gate.  Team members should sit in the Middle School Section on the home side of Dalzell Field.  All 8th grade football players are expected to represent their school appropriately during the game.  All players and coaches should report to Brent Cook, Amy Hawkins and Brian Kuhle at 6:30 p.m. at the east end of the track (near the starting line).  Teams will be lined up and will walk down the track to be introduced as a group at approximately 6:45 p.m.
  • Reminder…There is a Sports World Assembly today.

1) Sports Today – Girls Red Volleyball…Jefferson Red vs. Roosevelt Black. 7th grade at Jefferson and 8th grade at Roosevelt; both games begin at 4 p.m.

2) Sports Today – Cross Country…Cross Country meet at Wahlert or Vets Park beginning at 4:15 p.m.

3) 6th grade LEAP wrestling will start October 8th through the 16th. Students should sign up in the lunchroom.

4) Hempstead and Senior High School football teams are inviting all DCSD 8th grade football players and coaches to be their guests at the intra-city game on Friday, October 5th. 5) Congratulations to the 6th grade track teams on an awesome meet! After a short season of practice, you were all there to compete and did your best. Coaches from the other schools complimented your sportsmanship and positivity! Way to represent the Hillhawks! Coach Smith and Coach Settanni are super excited to see you continue your track careers.

  • Sports Today – 7th Grade Football…Jefferson vs. Drexler Black at Jefferson beginning at 4:15 p.m.
  • Sports Today – Cross Country…Cross Country meet at Manchester (West Delaware) is cancelled today. The meet will be run tomorrow, October 3rd at Wahlert or Vets Park.
  • Sports Today – 6th Grade Track and Field…Track Meet at Dalzell for Jefferson, Roosevelt and Washington 6th graders beginning at 5:15 p.m.

  • Have your HillsBills ready! The school store, “Cart Mart” will be starting today. 7thgrade students will be coming around during ELT on A days to sell supplies. A menu of items and an approximate time schedule was sent to ELT teachers.
