1) Birthdays Today – August 31st…No birthdays today.

2) 6th grade track starts next week. Girls will start on September 12th and will practice on Mondays and Wednesdays. The boys will start on September 13th and will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students should meet in room 223 (Mrs. Steepleton’s room.)

3) Sports Today – Cross Country Meet (1 mile course)…Jefferson vs. Washington, Roosevelt, East Dubuque, Western Dubuque, Mazzuchelli at Wahlert High School beginning at 4:15 p.m.

1) Birthdays Today – August 29th…No birthdays today.

2) Attention 7th and 8th graders: Are you interested in building a custom robot and then competing against other middle schools? If so, today, August 29th there is an informational meeting for Jefferson’s FIRST Robotics club. The meeting will be in the LRC starting right after school at 2:30 pm and will end at 3:30 pm. If you have questions, please talk with Mrs. Hernandez who is in Room 155.

3) Mr. Hitz is out today. There will be no band practice during Pd. 1 and no lessons today.

2) The Band Concert is at 6:15 this evening in the Auditorium and The Orchestra Concert is at 7:00 this evening in the Auditorium.

3) Any 8th grade students attending Hempstead High School and is interested in boys/girls wrestling, please come to the cafeteria after the announcements.

1) Wish Shauna Hantelmann a happy birthday today.

2) Birthdays – May 17th…Teagan Treanor, Jaxson Krieg, Evan Sumpter.

3) Here are the numbers per grade of students with 2 or less referrals as of last Friday who can still receive a free snow cone on May 26: 5/13/22. 6th grade 159 / 7th grade 128 / 8th grade 153

4) Thank you to each and every one of you for donating your pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House. As a school we were able to collect a grand total of 428lbs! We will be taking the pop tabs to the redemption center this summer and presenting a check to the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City. Be sure to save your pop tabs for next year Hillhawks! Thank you, Ms. Marks for organizing this competition. Here are the final results: 5th place: Sudtelget with 26lbs, 4th place: Efferding with 42lbs, Getting an ice-cream treat – 3rd place: Tritz with 71lbs and 2nd place: Marks with 75lbs, and in 1st place getting a pizza party: Mrs. Olson with 82lbs!

2) Today’s Monday message is focused on practicing patience. Having patience means being able to wait calmly in the face of frustration or adversity. So, anywhere there is frustration or adversity, which is nearly everywhere, we have the opportunity to practice being patient. Please read the email I sent you this morning to learn more about the benefits and how to improve being patient. It is my hope that if you practice being patient with your friends and teachers, you will have a more enjoyable end to the school year.

3) LEAP TODAY…No after school activities due to the early dismissal.

2) All 6-8 grade girls that play basketball Meet in the Cafeteria at 7:40 a.m.

3) This is our last week for collecting pop tabs. Please bring any and all pop tabs into your circle teacher by Friday the 13th, so we have a chance to weigh them and get a grand total.

4) In the month of May students who have 2, or fewer, referrals and no suspensions will get a delicious treat on May 26. We want to celebrate you and your good behavior! As of Monday, there 164 6th graders / 133 7th graders / 165 8th graders who are able to participate! That’s 462 students all together. Stay focused, get your work done, and listen to your teachers.
